A great country market to visit
Where is Wamuran? It's a town on the D'Aguilar Highway around 15 kms from Caboolture. It's a town with a fascinating history and an active community. Oh, and don't be surprised if you hear the locals talking about "Wam", it's the local lingo for the name of the town.
On the last Saturday of each month, the Wamuran Markets are held on the grounds of the Community Hall, in front of and in the old school building on the D'Aguilar Highway. There are plenty of signs to help you find it!
There's a wide range of products for sale – including fruit and vegetables, many grown locally, local fruit wines, honey, plants, new and second-hand clothes and lots more. Inside the old school, you can enjoy reading about the local history or perusing the large range of second-hand books or having Devonshire Tea on the verandah of the old school. Books are also on sale there on Wednesday mornings.
Also in the school building, you will find a range of cushions and throws, made by a wonderful local lady – amazing products and awesome low prices!
Behind the old school is the Wamuran Men's Shed where you can enjoy the Sausage Sizzle run by the men from the shed, and you can explore some of the interesting tools and works created by the men in the shed. (The sausage sizzle is the best in town!)
