Tue 11 Nov 2014

It's always a good day when you get to eat, drink and be entertained and take in some amazing views, and raise money for a good cause.

On Tuesday 11th November 2014, Walsh Bay Arts and Commerce will be hosting one of their biggest events of the year, The 5th annual Walsh Bay Arts Table. Come and celebrate wine, food and the arts at the 2014 Walsh Bay Arts Table. Your entry ticket cost will go towards supporting the development of arts and cultural activities in regional NSW.

The Al Fresco (meaning in the open air) degustation dinner will feature food from some of Sydney's best restaurants. The Walsh Bay Arts Table can be found on the water's edge (at Pier 2 Wharf), with Sydney Harbour in the background. This event is a fantastic opportunity for food and art lovers to be wined and dined in the great outdoors.

The dinner includes five courses, with each course matched with suitable wines. The Walsh Bay Arts Table dinner will be served on Pier 2 Wharf, with a view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background. There will be up to 400 diners seated at one long table, sharing the meal, the wine and the view.

The five course dinner will be provided by restaurants within the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct, including Dedes on the Wharf, Lotus Dumpling Bar, Sydney Dance Lounge and Simmer on the Bay. Sponsors for the event include Sonoma, Vittoria Coffee, Integral and Innovative.

The Walsh Bay Arts Table is a joint concern between Walsh Bay Arts and Commerce and Regional Arts NSW (the 2014 hosts of the event). Regional Arts NSW is the peak body and support agency for arts and cultural development and activities for regional communities across NSW.

Guests at the dinner will be entertained by Heath Cullen. Heath Cullen is a South Coast singer and songwriter. (Heath will open for Joe Henry's national tour in October.)

There will be a silent auction during the evening, with high quality art from regional NSW artists, up for auction. This is a great opportunity for the Sydney audience / participants to view the artwork of a range of extraordinary artists and maybe to own some of the artwork.

Regional Arts NSW CEO Elizabeth Rogers has said "this is a fantastic opportunity for a Sydney audience . . . to own art created by an extraordinary range of artists."

Tickets for the Walsh Bay Arts Table dinner are available on the Regional Arts NSW website. For more information about the Walsh Bay Arts Table dinner or other events in Walsh Bay check out the Walsh Bay Arts and Commerce website.

What does degustation mean?

Degustation is a culinary term which means a careful, appreciative tasting of various foods, focusing on the gustatory system, the senses, high culinary art and good company. Degustation usually consists of eight or more courses, and it may be accompanied by a matching wine degustation which compliments each dish.

So purchase a ticket, support regional artists in NSW, enjoy fine food, great company and the Sydney Harbour Bridge skyline.
