Wallaroo's new Saltwater Swimming Enclosure has an official name! WATEROO now boasts two bold gangways leading from the stability of the foreshore to the complex of floating Pontoons. This has been an ongoing project (see pages 25-26) of the District Council of the Copper Coast. Wateroo even has its own facebook page which hopefully will fill up with happy photos over the years to come. Wateroo was officially opened by Jay Weatherill on April 3rd.

The Pontoons are encircled by safety nets which exclude potentially hazardous sea creatures (stingrays, the odd errant shore-seeking shark). The entire structure floats on the water's surface. Swimmers should remember that the depth of water will vary with the tides.

Wateroo enjoys a prime location, in front of Cafe Mia, near the jetty, near Mac's Waterfront Villas, on the edge of the blue Wallaroo Bay. Views across the bay to North Beach. Wallaroo Bay is popular with sailors and kayakers, dolphins and fish.

Often I walk before dawn and many of my photos are taken around daybreak, hence dark skies! Wallaroo does enjoy a lot of sunshine during daylight hours)
