Walking with Dinosaurs was a popular BBC mini-series, which first aired in the UK in 1999. The 6 part nature documentary received much critical acclaim - it was the recipient of three
Emmy Awards and is noted as one of the
100 Greatest British Television Programmes .
The universal popularity of the series has spawned several projects - including a touring exhibition titled 'Walking with Dinosaurs - The Exhibition', which presented a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the series - displaying many of the models, animatronics and puppet heads, used during production.
'Walking with Dinosaurs - The Live Experience,' a live-action adaptation of the series, was created in 2007 in Australia. This indoor arena show opened in Australia and has since traveled throughout Europe, America and Asia and is returning to Australian shores in 2011 as '
Walking with Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular .'
The show features animatronic and costumed dinosaurs and is directed by Scott Faris. The 20 creatures are designed by Sonny Tilders. The score is is composed by James Seymour Brett.
