Dandenong Ranges Walking Track
Dandenong Ranges Walking Track

I'm fortunate enough to live in one of the little villages that dot The Dandenong Ranges. Lately I've ditched the gym and decided to get fit for free, so I'm walking the trails around my home.

The other morning it was crisp and cold so I decided to walk up the track to the Skyhigh Restaurant at Mt Dandenong. I sat and had a cuppa, read the paper and took in the spectacular view. You can see to the bay on a clear day.

The Skyhigh is also home to a maze for the kids to enjoy, and some lovely gardens.

When I was almost home I stopped again and took in the view and had one of those 'great to be alive' moments.

The above photo is part of the view and the track that starts at Kalorama 5 Ways and goes all the way up to the Skyhigh and beyond. It's about 2 kilometres.

Directions to other trails can be found here.

Why? Why pay good money to a gym when you can get just as fit and enjoy the beautiful Australian bush at the same time?
