Walking The Tibrogargan Circuit

We've all driven past Mount Tibrogargan at the
Glass House Mountains and thought of climbing to its summit. But not of all of us can get there.
It's tough. So take no shame in admitting you can't do it, because there's still an easy walk that's just as scenic. The Mount Tibrogargan circuit is a
3.2km, 1.5 hour long walk around the mountain, which is pretty obviously to spot between the Beerburrum and Glass House Mountains townships, off Marshs and Barrs rds.
Just because it's not the summit doesn't mean you won't have a great time. The track follows the base of Mt Tibrogargan through casuarina groves, open eucalypt and melaleuca forest - each supporting a changing variety of native plants and wildlife. You'll really be able to spot the change in scenery.
You don't have to wait to long to get a great view. About 400 metres from the start of the walk you'll get some great views to Mount Beerwah, Mount Coonowrin, Mount Tibberoowuccum and Mount Tunnbubudla. That's a lot of mountains.
This is way more relaxing than the struggling climb up Mt TIbrogargan.
There are also plenty of things to keep an eye out for. Red stringybarks, a favourite koala tucker tree, line the track edges at the beginning of the Tibrogargan circuit. Be sure to peak up every now and again, you may see a koala. A bit further up, you may also hear yellow-tailed black-cockatoos softly shelling casuarina seed pods in the grove of black she-oaks. This is just past the walking track entrance.
This is a beautiful walk around the mountain - you may be able to get some great views of the mountain from on top, but there are plenty of breathtaking ones to be had from below. The eastern side is my favourite. Along the walk, you'll also find plenty of break spots, with concrete chairs and even a table. Great for a drink of water and a photo opportunity.
