I write, read, travel, garden, renovate, work, drink coffee - all the usual things. My lovely partner often accompanies me, and of course my constant companions, two feisty terriers, are never far from my side. We live in and enjoy South Australia.

Walk the Yorke Peninsula for a fantastic opportunity to see some of South Australia's most spectacular natural views! Winter on Yorke Peninsula (YP) is certainly cold this year, which will suit those who love a touch of frost on their nose as they bravely tread the byways of the amazing YP coastline. Of course, Spring is not far away, and the countryside will be spread with wildflowers, the crops will be reaching their full height, the YP will offer hospitable weather, for those who don't mind getting their hair tousled.

When you're walking the breathtaking coastline, look out across the blue gulf waters and do a bit of sailboat spotting. Bring a decent camera to capture the wildlife including native birds. If you decide to walk in the warmer months do watch where you put your feet because reptiles will be out enjoying the sunshine in their natural habitat, and there is no need to go upsetting them (or yourself) with an unexpected encounter.

With over 500kms of walking and cycling trails, you can pretty much start at any point and walk or cycle as far as you like. You can download a Walking Trail Map to plan out your route in advance. Places to camp and points of interest are marked on the map. Planning ahead is always necessary when you're venturing out in the great Australian countryside. Take whatever supplies you will need, including water! You will also need sun protection, even on what might seem a cool or overcast day. Please be sensitive regarding the native flora and fauna, much of the coastal region is fragile and vulnerable.
