Get into Pink and Walk the Coastline
Join more than a thousand locals are expected to turn out dressed top to toe in pink …trying to raise more than $70,000 for cancer research, preventative programs and support services for those affected.
Organised by the Cancer Council Queensland and starting from Alexandra Headland Surf Club, the Sunshine Coast invites everyone to register for the 10 km or 20km walk. Or register for the walk in Cairns in October?
Come as a team or an individual and be sure to wear your comfy walkers. Everyone will leave from the surf club walk follow the coastline and up along the scenic Mooloolaba spit with the 20km walkers then heading back down Alexandra Parade and beside the river before circling back to end at the surf club.
Combine your fitness program with a worthy cause and meet like-minded people – there is always a sense of 'community' on these walks as most of us have been touched by this disease in some way. Registration starts at 7am, walk at 8 am.
One in six women are diagnosed with breast or gynecological cancers in their lifetime, more than 500 in Queensland this year. So join the fun, enjoy the view, get your exercise and sample the local treats afterwards.
