Autism, Autism Spectrum, Aspergers, High Functioning Autism. These are not buzz words, they are different ways of saying the same thing. That is what Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia) is all about, appreciating differences in people and how they fit into society. Aspect is a not-for-profit organisation inviting all Australians to 'Walk for Autism' and help raise awareness as well as much needed funds to keep services available for families dealing with Autism on a daily basis.

This is a fundraising walk that runs from Saturday 2 April, which is 'World Autism Awareness Day', through to Saturday 9 April so there is a whole week of walking you can do to add to the 42,000,000 steps worldwide.

You will be able to track your progress on the interactive website as you enjoy this great way to stay healthy during your lunch break, after work, morning or afternoon. You (or your team) can choose when to walk. Anyone of any fitness level can do this walk so do you have a team already? Or maybe you'd like to join on your own? Then register here.

Aspect CEO, Adrian Ford, encourages everyone to participate to help raise awareness of autism as well as pay tribute to the six families who began Aspect 50 years ago. "During such an important time, we're excited to put on our walking shoes, get outdoors and celebrate the brilliance of people on the spectrum," said Ford. "Walk for autism is an event that the whole community can participate in, no matter their location, lifestyle or schedule."

Aspect, from humble beginnings in 1966, is now the largest not-for-profit organisation assisting people on the spectrum as well as their families. If you would like further information about Aspect and their important work click here to access their website.

If you'd like to know more about what autism actually is and how it affects individuals and their families, watch this video. These are the people who will benefit from the funds you raise.
