If you like taking a stroll for a good cause then over the next few weeks you are going to be a busy little bee.
This coming weekend the
Walk Against Warming will be taking place from 11am on Saturday at
Martin Place in the city.
From the website:
"
Join thousands of families, workplaces and communities in a walk for renewable energy and a safe climate future for our children. With vital decisions being made this year, we will Walk Against Warming to ensure the Australian Government supports strong, urgent action and justice for developing nations affected by global warming."
Global Warming was a hot political topic this time last year when 30,000 people took part. It will be interesting to see if they can get the same numbers given that everyone is now focused on their jobs rather than climate change and there is no pending election.
If that gets you into the mood to walk for good causes then on Sunday 23 November 2008 you can get out the boots again for the
Walk for Aids.
This aim of this walk is to raise awareness and some much needed funds for services for HIV positive people.
The walk will take place in the Royal Botanic Gardens. There will be entertainment, a sausage sizzle, and you can even take Fido along with you.
It costs $20 to register as a walker, which you can
do here.
Why? Support a good cause and have fun doing it.
