Walk a Mile in My Boots is an annual charity event run by the Hutt Street Centre to help them support homeless people in Adelaide. A choice of two walks are offered - in Adelaide and McLaren Vale, with some schools holding their own fundraising event privately.

Come together with your friends, family, and colleagues to walk a mile in the boots of a person facing homelessness in South Australia by walking one mile on a cold, winter's morning.

Join the McLaren Vale on Friday August 3, with the walk starting at Oxenberry Farm and ending at Hardys Tintara. Your walk takes approximately 30 minutes and is followed by a traditional Hutt Street Centre BBQ breakfast.

The Adelaide Walk a Mile in My Boots takes place a week later on Friday August 10. Start your walk at Victoria Park /Pakapakanthi (Wakefield Road entrance) and finish at the South Park Lands/ Tuthangga, Hutt Road. At a normal pace, the walk takes only about 30 minutes, and you can follow it with a traditional Hutt Street Centre BBQ breakfast.

The walks are held early in the morning at 7am for a 7.30am start, and will only take an hour of your time, so you can still go to work or school afterwards. If you can't manage to walk the mile for some reason, a simple donation to the Hutt Street Centre is very welcome - the fundraising target this year is $225,000.

To find out more about the great work the Hutt Street Centre do, visit their website . You'll find more about Walk a Mile in My Boots on this website where you can register for either or both walks, or make a tax-deductible donation.

The Hutt St Centre has been helping people experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives for over 60 years. Without the help of people like you, they could not provide life-changing and essential services each year. The centre has had some bad press lately from a nasty minority - let's show them how valuable their work is to our community.

Another way to help The Hutt Street Centre is to shop at Dulcie's Shop of Real Opportunity . This shop is a boutique bus packed with a fantastic range of vintage and retro clothing - look out for it coming to a venue near you soon.
