2016 heralds the eighth year of Hutt St Centre's annual event: . Held in the first full week of August, raises public awareness of homelessness as part of National Homelessness Prevention Week (01/08/2016-07/08/2016) .

Hutt St Centre is a frontline agency for homeless and vulnerable people – recent reports have found that an estimated 6,000 people in South Australia are currently experiencing homelessness. This year's event is aiming to recruit 6,000 registered participants to 'because no person who is homeless should feel like they're walking alone'.



aims to provide registered participants with a glimpse of what it's like for some people facing homelessness who are constantly walking a mile or more - in rain, hail or shine 'to find something to eat, a hot shower and a friendly face'.

This year, Hutt St Centre will host two events in two different locations.

– McLaren Vale event will be held on Friday 29/07/2016 at 7.30am.

Meet at Oxenberry Farm (out the back) and walk along the Coast to Vines Rail Trail, to Hardys Tintara where you will be welcomed with a traditional Hutt St Centre BBQ breakfast.

– Adelaide event will be held on Friday 05/08/2016 at 7.30am.
Meet at Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi (Wakefield Road entrance) and walk a mile along Wakefield Street and Hutt Street, past the Hutt Street Centre, to the South Parklands at Hutt Road where you'll be welcomed with a traditional Hutt St Centre BBQ breakfast.


Register online or on the day (EFTPOS and cash facilities will be available on the day). A traditional Hutt St Centre BBQ breakfast is included in registration fee - cost is Adult: $25; Concessions: $10; Child (5-12yo): $5; Child under 5yo: free (register here ).

If you can't make it to the above events and are a member of a school, there's an option to hold your own event at your school , during National Homelessness Prevention Week or at a time that suits you.
