I am a keen traveller. Currently rediscovering my own backyard and the rest of Australia. I enjoy nature, history and the quirkiness of what the world has to offer.
Step back in time to the Great Depression
Reamus Youth Theatre is performing Clifford Odets' Waiting for Lefty written in 1935 and directed by Joanne Lawler. This American classic is set amid America's Great Depression and the struggles of workers during this period.
Waiting for Lefty is about New York taxi drivers who meet to discuss potential strike action. While waiting for the meeting to start, the drivers share their experiences about trying to provide for their families and what it means to have the right to live like a fully realised person.
A play that reflects American society at that time but also allows the audience to reflect on their own lives.
Running time of the play is approximately 50 minutes with no interval.
