Waikerie is a Riverland township just two hours' drive from Adelaide. It is recently known for its silo art. Painted by two artists, Garry Duncan from Kanmantoo and Jimmy Dvate from Melbourne, in two different styles, it is definitely a must-see when driving through the Riverland. It is the first to be painted on both sides, and both the land view and the river view are stunning. I especially love the endangered Regent Parrot.
The Waikerie Silo Art is located on a clifftop along Ian Oliver Drive. It can easily be seen and you won't miss it. It showcases artworks themed around the Murray River which has always been a significant part of the local Waikerie community. It stands to remind us of the importance of a healthy river. Water is important for the environment, the community and natural habitat.
