Wahroonga Food & #43 ; Wine Festival 2013

There's no excuse necessary for getting out and about to enjoy the Spring sunshine, but there sure is no better reason than to soak up a day of food and wines finest. The inaugural Wahroonga Food & #43 ; Wine Festival is swinging open the cellar doors at Wahroonga Park on Sunday the 27th of October, welcoming one and all to the lush surroundings to celebrate local and regional wines, fresh food and gourmet produce.

Australia is renowned for producing some of the most exquisite wine in the world and this is the perfect chance to swirl and sip with the best of them. A wide variety of exceptional wineries have been thoughtfully hand-picked from across Australia and New Zealand to present their delicious drops, including McWilliams Wines , Penley Estate , Nanny Goat Vineyard , Thistle Hill and many more. You'll have the great chance to meet the winemakers and find out all there is to know about their unique blends, taking the opportunity to taste these top wines, including some award winners, and if they hit the spot, you can buy a bottle or two to take home.

You don't want to do all that wine tasting on an empty stomach, so obviously the festival organisers have got you covered. Not only is it advisable to have a bite to eat when having a cheeky tipple, but it can also enhance the wine you are sampling. Pairing food and wine is a desirable skill and thankfully you'll find yourself surrounded by exactly the right people to do it.

A fierce force to be reckoned with is the craze taking over the foodie scene; the food truck. Revving their engines at the Wahroonga Food and Wine Festival will be the Cantina Mobil Truck serving mouth-watering Mexican street food to the masses, The Veggie Patch Van offering up their signature veggie burgers, and the Urban Pasta Truck plating up, you guessed it, pasta perfection. There will of course be other meals not on wheels, with Lounge 10`47 cooking up some punchy Paella, Black Angus beef rolls fresh off the spit roast put on by Moobi Valley , grilled seafood tasting plates to have a snack on, and the tried and true festival favourite, Turkish gozleme, just to name a few.

To satisfy your sweet tooth, you can indulge in some Danish dessert pancakes, irresistible ice cream perfect for a warm Spring day or a soothing cup of coffee from the gourmet food vendors. If that's not enough, then you can head over to the many gourmet food stalls lining the flower beds of Wahroonga Park, where you'll find desserts by Marc's Patisserie, puddings from Pudding Lane, olives and olive oil from Bunna Bunoo Olive Grove , French produce from Steph's Gourmet Food , a range of jams, vinegars, spices, cheeses, fresh flowers, organic fruit and vegetables, plus, even a little something for the furry friend at Jollie Gourmet Dog Treats .

To make the most of the grande park providing the delightful backdrop for this festival, there will also be live music in the rotunda, entertainment wandering around the park, as well as inflatable rides and an animal farm from the Southern Highlands for the kids.

To extend the festivities, in the week following the headline Wahroonga Food and Wine Festival event, a handful of top chefs from the Ku-ring-gai Council area will be teaming up with the wonderful winemakers to hold "Meet the Winemaker" dinner events. There will also be select wine tastings held at Chambers Cellars in Pymble, Porter's in Wahroonga and C'ellar Vie in Turramurra.

So why not spend the day in the outdoors with friends and family, enjoying the launch of this foodies' paradise festival.
