The Wah Wah Lounge is situated in inner city Melbourne, a quick stagger from surrounding pubs and bars. Upon entry you are greeted with signs forbidding sandals, runners and other delicious things.
Fellas - you will need a higher ratio of ladies in your group if you want entry, so bring along your lady friends or simply hang out at the nearby tram stop and latch on to some biddies as they strut past with the promise of buying them drinks.
The line wait is nothing to write home about, it all depends on what time you arrive; the earlier the better. You'll also want to make sure you've stockpiled food rations for the next week as entry alone sets you back $20, $15 if you're on a guest list.
Once inside you'll either experience an epileptic fit or severe pupil contraction. Once your eyes have adjusted (or the ambulance has arrived) you'll soon fall in the love with the ceiling which is covered in multi-coloured flashing lights and if they can't spark the dancing queen within you, nothing can.
The crowd inside is a mix between Jersey Shore and Underbelly sprinkled with a few college kids and the odd slice of 'is that Amy's Dad?'.
The dance floor is definitely the defining feature of the Wah Wah Lounge and you can tear it up to your heart's content, or at least until about 5am when it closes.
If you've recently come into a large inheritance or you invented the iPod, you can also buy a few drinks to keep the night rolling. Overall, the Wah Wah Lounge is an experience that perhaps you might have once a year to remind yourself never to have, just like KFC.
