Wagyu's melt-in-the-mouth texture and superlative flavour has made it one of the most sought-after types of beef in the world. Originating in Japan, where the word literally means 'Japanese beef', this highly marbled meat has gone on to wow the world.

Now Ribs & Burgers have placed this delicious ingredient, which some have described as 'a slice of heaven', at the centre of a new range of sumo-sized burgers. I reviewed Ribs and Burgers when it first arrived in Queensland four years ago, so when I had the opportunity to taste-test the latest additions to the menu, I wasn't about to pass it up.

My companion chose the Wagyu Original - which features a wagyu patty inside a bun loaded with lettuce, Spanish onions, tomatoes and pickles. I selected the Wagyu Bacon and Vintage Cheddar which adds on thick, smoky bacon and oozing melted cheese - a perfect foil to the char-grilled beef patty. Another option is the Wagyu Big Cheese which marries the wagyu beef patty with melted vintage cheese, pickles, caramelised onions and mustard. All three include a dash of the restaurant's own Aunty Joan's Pink Sauce, developed from a family recipe.

As with most meals which soar, seemingly effortlessly, from ordinary to sublime, it's all in the ingredients. The cheddar, I learn, is sourced from a family-run farm in the rolling English hills and fields of Somerset and is aged for eighteen months before even beginning its journey to Australia. The wagyu beef, meanwhile, is sourced from Mayura Station in South Australia. The Wagyu Burger range will be served in Ribs & Burgers restaurants nationwide and available on Deliveroo until 5 August 2018, so long as stocks last.

Ribs & Burgers also offers a tantalising range of steaks, ribs and other tasty burgers. Whatever you opt for here, don't forget to order a side of salted chips. Oh, and soft drink, thick shake, beer or wine. In all, the perfect Sunday lunch ... which can be enjoyed any day of the week.
