If you're anything like me, and much prefer buying freshly baked homemade dog treats as opposed to packaged treats from pet shops that are likely packed full of preservatives, Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats is a small run-from-home business based in Mudgee, New South Wales, that will meet your requirements! Having only established themselves as a business in April 2016, Carmen (human CEO) and Lucy (canine CEO and principal test taster) of Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats are already making a name for themselves in the wonderful world of gourmet pet treats.
The idea of Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats started when Carmen noticed that Lucy, her beagle who loves treats, did not feel or act like herself after consuming commercial store treats. This prompted her to begin making her own dog treats for Lucy, so that Carmen knew exactly what ingredients were in each treat. Holding a certificate in animal studies and also having attended agricultural college in Emerald, Lucy's (and other dogs') health and wellbeing is extremely important to Carmen. Carmen also made treats for family and friends' dogs as well, to great success. Having received such positive feedback, Carmen decided that she wanted to give others the same opportunity to feed their furbabies healthy, tasty, and freshly made treats, by selling at local markets. Due to the success of Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats, in addition to selling regularly at local markets, Carmen's treats are now stocked at 3 different business, and have regular customers who can't get enough!

What goes in each Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats' products, and how are they made?
Although the specific ingredients of each product will obviously be different, Carmen uses only natural, human-grade ingredients - there's nothing in Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats that would harm your beloved fur baby. Carmen bakes her treats before placing them in a dehydrator - behind each treat is hours of hard work and effort!
Unlike many other gourmet dog treats who use carob in place of chocolate (which is toxic to dogs), Carmen uses Sweet Paws Icing instead. The Sweet Paws range contain no sugar, set hard, resist cracking, and will not go soft or sticky even in high humidity climates. The benefits of using icing in place of carob is that, unlike carob, icing does not melt as easily. This is great news for people like me, who tend to leave things in the car and forget about them! I've (accidentally) melted so many dog treats in the car, it's relieving to hear that my Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats will survive should I be so careless.
What products do Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats have in their range, and how much do they cost?
Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats have a wide range of products available, and are continuously expanding their range. Unfortunately, Eddy only got to try one product as Wag 'n' Tailz had sold out at the markets that was on the day before we visited - a testament as to how good their treats are! Carmen is constantly looking for new ideas and recipes to try, so keep your eyes peeled on their Facebook page and website!
Prices are very reasonable! Here is an example of pricing for some of Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats' range:
Kangaroo or free range chicken - $12.00 per bag
Treat biscuits with 9 different flavours (pumpkin and honey, pumpkin peanut butter, banana honey, sweet potato apple, Apple chai seed, dog mints, turkey and cranberry, carob and peanut butter, blueberry oatmeal) - $8.00 for small bags (180g) or $11.00 for large bags (300g)

Do Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats sell any other products other than dog treats?
Similar to how Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats are constantly expanding their range of treats, Carmen is also beginning to branch out to expand the business. Her newest product and addition to the Wag 'n' Tailz family is a handmade nose and paw wax for dogs - made only using natural ingredients (coconut oil, shea butter, calendula, beeswax, and essential oils), simply apply small amount to the area required. It's great for hotspots, bug bites, and grazes. Carmen was nice enough to give Eddy and I one to try for free, and our verdict is... we love it! Poor Eddy has had to share with me, because it's good enough for humans to use too.

Thank you Carmen, Lucy, and Hamish for letting Eddy and I into Wag 'n' Tailz Pet Treats' headquarters during our one day in Mudgee, we loved meeting you all and Eddy had a blast playing with Lucy (and eating treats from her company)! I'm sure we will be in contact each time Eddy is running low on treat supplies, and we hope to see you again some day for another romp in the garden!
Thanks again Lucy, for sharing your treats with us!
