Based in Melbourne, Wadaiko Rindo runs weekly classes at St Philips Anglican Church Hall in Abbotsford for enthusiasts who'd like to learn the art of Japanese taiko drumming. Known for their energetic and dynamic drumming style, Wadaiko Rindo perform all over Australia and in the Asia Pacific region. This formal performing group is made up of members from advanced classes. It's every student's dream; to be able to perform at a professional level with Founding Director and teacher Toshi Sakamoto.
The Annual Advanced Student Concert is the culmination of another year of learning and spreading the word about the ancient art of taiko. Students and ensemble players perform for the audience and showcase their hard work and dedication. This year's event welcomes special guest Noriko Tadano (Shamisen).
The concert will be split into two events on (the same day) Sunday 9 December 2018 at Christine Strachan Theatre - South Oakleigh College, Bakers Rd, Oakleigh South. The first concert from 11am-12.30pm will be a free event of performances from beginner and intermediate students. The second performance runs from 3-5.20pm and consists of advanced students.
