Get Some Pork (And Cider) On Your Fork At Elizabeth Quay
With the WA Beef and Beer Festival now just a distant memory, it's time for the bovine and malt to make way for a new crowd favourite – pork and cider.

The WA Cider and Pork Festival will be held at Elizabeth Quay and will celebrate everything we love about WA's favourite apple drink and all things pork. The festival takes place on the WA Labour Day long weekend from Friday, 3rd March to Sunday, 5th March, with the following Monday being a public holiday. Woo!

Cider has quickly risen through the popularity stakes in recent times and is now no longer considered the poor cousin to beer, with big brand names such as Rekorderlig now staples in so many bars and restaurants. As for pork, well, who doesn't love pulled pork, a good tenderloin and all that crunchy yet juicy pork crackle? Mmmm.

But back to the cider. Visitors will have the chance to try more than 70 ciders from 17 different cideries from WA, interstate and overseas. You'll find popular Fremantle brewers Pipsqueak, Margaret River locals Colonial Brewing Co and Broome's Matso Brewery, alongside big names Monteith's and James Squire.

You'll be able to sample tasty cider, take part in a cider Masterclass, or even learn a bit more about the origins and history of cider, and why it has become so popular today. The best part is however, that you'll learn all about pairing cider with pork, and which brew goes best with your bacon, bangers or belly. The Masterclasses and tasting cards will cost extra.

Speaking of pork, some of Perth's favourite pork eateries and food trucks will have their wares on display, including Varsity Bar, Mondo Meats, The Stables Bar, and Porkies Bar-B-Que. You'll find 15 food trucks and pop up restaurants, all dedicated to pork. Think pulled pork burgers, pork ribs and bacon. Your biggest problem will be decided what to eat.

If your kids are big pork lovers, parents are welcome to bring them along, and children under 18 years are free to enter, although you will have to keep a close eye on them at all times. Tickets are available here. I should mention that even if you're not a fan of cider, you can buy plenty of other beverages, including wine and cocktails, but try not to bring too much attention to yourself.

Come along and forget all about the beer and beef – the swine is here to have its time in the sun – or mud.
