Underpants and Overbites is a light-hearted diary comic based on Davis's own life. The comic depicts Davis as a potato-shaped, buck-toothed little person and contains curious and humorous observations about everyday life. It features frequent themes and characters and touches on her childhood, mental health, anxiety and relationship problems.

I really enjoyed Vulnerability Is My Superpower. I thought it was a really sweet and charming book. Davis is adorable as a little potato person. I liked how she embraces her weirdness and isn't afraid to let herself be a bit of an oddball. In one comic, she confesses to nine things that she loves that everyone else hates, which include the sound of a mouse scratching in her kitchen, when a bug flies into her mouth, and when she sits on a toilet seat that has been warmed by another butt. In Early Childhood Experiments, she fesses up to dumb things she did as a kid that we're all guilty of doing, like staring directly into the sun and wearing a shirt like a pair of pants. She's such a lovable, relatable dork.

I've been aware of Underpants and Overbites for the past couple of years. It became one of the regular online comics that would pop up on my social media feed. I didn't dislike the comic, but I wasn't a huge fan. I'm glad that I decided to read Vulnerability Is My Superpower and give Davis's work a closer look. It was so good it has given me a new appreciation for Underpants and Overbites. I get it now. I understand the appeal. Davis is such a likeable character. She is honest and isn't afraid to take ownership of her feelings. I like that she has made peace with the fact that vulnerability is her superpower. It's part of what makes her human.
