If you happen to just pass this venue, you are lost. It is at the end of Uplands Road, a no through road in Chirnside Park. If that was your scenario, then you have had the experience of driving through some of the Yarra Valley's beautiful scenery and found a venue for a weekend breakfast or lunch.

You have arrived.
My visit was with a group of 16 for a surprise birthday breakfast. The birthday girl was surprised and we were all surprised at this beauty of this venue, inside and out.

With 16 orders, we were expecting a lengthy wait for our food, but this was not so. It arrived quickly, hot and looking and tasting delicious.

Having a good time.
The three most popular choices were:
Farmers Breakfast - 2 eggs cooked to your liking on toast, served with bacon, roast tomato, mushrooms, spinach, sausage and a hash brown, topped with pesto and parmesan - $24

My favourite, a big breakfast with no eggs.
Eggs Benedict - 2 poached eggs on toast, served with ham or salmon, roast tomato and a hash brown. Topped with hollandaise sauce - $18.

Eggs benedict.
Cinnamon French Toast - with grilled caramel banana, vanilla ice cream and toasted walnut - $21.

Children are welcome and culinary catered for.

The children loved it.
Apart from the delicious food, the service was impeccable from the very attentive staff.
If you could take your eyes of your food and looked out the large windows, you will notice you are in the middle of a vineyard with vines almost within picking distance.

Outside tables on a wide veranda.
After you have eaten, a slow saunter among the nearby vines is a very relaxing experience. Children seem to love that experience.

Getting among the vines.
Vue On Halcyon is set in the Halcyon Daze vineyard, established by Richard and Cheryl Rackley in 1982. The venue is managed by their son Dean and his wife Rennae. A cellar door is open Saturdays and Sundays between 9.00 am and 3.00 pm, same hours as the restaurant.

Must be in a winery.
On site is a chapel for wedding services and a large reception room adjoining the restaurant area.

The view from every table.
Uplands Road runs off Black springs Road and it is just under two kms to Vue on Halcyon. Getting lost has its rewards.
