A gift for each shift

The Telethon Community Cinemas have been operating in Perth for a number of years, raising over $9million for Telethon and other charities. The event is 100% volunteer-run, with more than 700 helpers working across the locations each year.

Why not sign up to help out with a few shifts?

When and where do they need volunteers?
Telethon Community Cinemas have four outdoor locations across the city including Burswood, Bassendean, Murdoch and Joondalup.

Each cinema has its own program of movies that covers new release, classic, family and cult movies showing during an extended season that stretches from November to April.

Who can volunteer?
Anyone aged 16 to 80 can apply, though 16-17 year olds will require parental permission.

You must be able to commit to at least one regular shift every fortnight for the season which equates to approximately 10 shifts over 5 months.

As the cinemas are open-air, movies start at 7.45pm (after sun-set). Volunteer shifts start between 5.45pm-6pm and run until after the screening finishes.

What jobs will I be asked to do?
There are a wide variety of jobs available to volunteers including working on the BBQ (for sites with a sausage sizzle), hiring out bean bag chairs, working at the candy bar, helping at the Box Office with ticket sales, serving patrons at the La Grassiere experience, checking tickets and welcoming patrons and more.

What will I get in return?
Apart from a sense of pride and that warm fuzzy feeling of helping a great organisation which helps sick kids, at the end of each shift you will receive a free pass to return to another of the Telethon Community Cinema sessions.

Any Volunteer who completes 10 shifts will help decide which charity benefits from the efforts of their work.
