There is no doubt about the professionalism of the volunteers at the Brisbane Visitor Information and Bookings Centre . They recently returned from their annual two-day conference which is so generously sponsored by Tangalooma Resort on Moreton Island.

Here they were in-serviced by a selection of members of the VIC and brought up to date with the latest in tourism opportunities in the South East corner and beyond.

It was also an opportunity to let their hair down at dinner, with Australiana the theme for the evening. The happy little Vegemites stole the show.

As well as manning the booth in the Queen Street Mall, VIC volunteers wander the Mall as rovers, greet visiting cruise ships, and conducting guided tours of the city centre on weekdays. Never a dull moment at the VIC, and with the G20 on the horizon, it promises to become even busier.

So, if you are a people person who would like to spend a day a week meeting and helping folk from all over Australia and overseas, and, in addition, learning "What's on in Brisbane", the VIC will welcome you. Uniforms are supplied, and training given by the paid and volunteer staff. Regular morning tea and breakfast meetings also assist in keeping in touch with the tourism scene. For further information, call in at the Centre for an application form or phone 3006 6290.
