What better way to welcome in Spring than through a musical extravaganza of Poppies, Poems and Performance. The three collide as the Voices of Birrallee present the Poppies and Poems performance at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) on Sunday 2 September 2018.
Poppies and Poems classical choral performance is set against a historical backdrop in celebrating the poetry on World War 1.
The splendid Brisbane Birallee Voices is an ensemble made up of approximately 70 singers aged between 13 and 17 years (drawn from Grade 7-12). As well as attending weekly rehearsals, the members of this ensemble are committed to music studies and/or voice training. They also participate in a variety of performances, recordings and a touring program.
The Voices of Birralee will feature six choirs and a seventh, adult community choir, The Performance will also feature two premiere pieces composed by Paul Jarman and Katherine Ruhle, alongside a finale of more than 450 choristers.
If you have a WW1 Ancestor, Voices of Birralee invites members of the community to submit their WW1 ancestor to be included in an online Roll of Honour and in the concert's program. You can share your ancestor's story at birralee.org. and make it personal to you and your family
