Voices in the Forest is an outdoor classical concert held in the amphitheatre at the National Arboretum. This evening event is now in its 5th year and will feature world-renowned Mexican tenor, Diego Torre; Argentinian born Australia baritone, José Carbó and Australia's leading soprano, Cheryl Barker AO. Also performing will be Australia's Louise Page and Christina Wilson in front of the Voices of the Forest Orchestra.
The Voices in the Forest Youth Choir will be taking the stage as well as the Voices in the Forest Opera Chorus, one of Canberra's leading adult choirs.
The program will feature well-known operatic arias including a selection from Puccini's opera - La Bohème. The second act of the performance will feature this moving opera, with all three headline singers performing together.
An interesting tip from the organisers is how to appreciate the music after an aria is finished. "Bravo" congratulates a man, "Brava" congratulates a woman and "Bravi" congratulates everyone on the stage.
Keep in mind that this event will proceed in all weather, so sunscreen or even a poncho is advised. In 2014 the event was hampered by a storm rolling in, so organisers are hoping for kinder weather for the audience to enjoy the concert this year.
There will several stalls to buy food and drink, however if you wish to enjoy your music with a hamper and wine, you can order these beforehand here.
This spectacular event can be enjoyed with a beer, wine or soft drink, as you sit back and relax and appreciate the beautiful opera, acoustics and views from this scenic hilltop location.
