Voglia is an elegant cafe, restaurant and pizza place located in West End Markets on Montague Road. The main entrance of Voglia is located in the small square of West End Markets, where there are tables and chairs outside. Voglia is the place to satisfy your wish for Italian flavours, an excellent venue for catching up with friends over a coffee, for a corporate lunch or a sumptuous dinner. When you approach the venue to make your order, friendly and professional personnel are ready to serve you.

It can't escape the eyes all the divine sweets and decadent desserts in the glass display case.

Voglia offers great coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner or simply you can sit down and have a snack. If you are on the go, you can order takeaway coffee or if you have time, you can make your order and sit down. There are plenty of sinful sweets to accompany your hot drink, most of them are homemade on the premises.

You can choose either to sit down in the outdoor area that resembles the setting of any Italian square, where the coffee shops have tables and chairs outside. Indoor there is a large room with many tables and chairs; the clear floor reflects the deep orange colour of the ceiling. There are lights hanging down contributing to the illumination and to the aesthetic of the place. One side of the wall has big windows which allow you to take glimpses of the life outside the cafe and add to the atmosphere.

The bar has a great collection of spirits and all sort of glasses that reflect in the mirror. You are sure to find some famous Italian liquors like Limoncello, lemon liqueur mainly produced in Southern Italy.

The coffee machine on the bench is working all the time to brew coffee for customers to have it at the tables or take away.

Inside it is possible to see the chefs creating dishes both modern Australian and strictly Italian. There is also a big oven where Italian pizzas are baked to perfection.

I went to visit Voglia in the morning around ten o'clock, when the venue is busy preparing coffee and brunches. I ordered a coffee and I was asked how hot I liked my coffee. Since I was never asked that question before when ordering a coffee, I decided to investigate further and I discovered that a quality coffee gets served at about 65 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, the coffee delivers its full strength of flavours and the milk releases all its natural sweetness. Voglia can prepare hotter coffee for the customers who enjoy high temperatures and the coffee stays hot for longer on the table when catching up with friends or just when lingering around to soak up the atmosphere.

Then I met Vito, the owner of Voglia and his wife Bradi. They used to run a restaurant in Ascot and then decided to sell the business and move to West End. Now they run Voglia with passion and dedication. Voglia means "crave" and it is a celebration of food in the Italian way with gourmet breakfast, antipasti, handmade pasta, secondi, salads, Italian style burgers, panuozzi, mains, pizza and dolci.

For Vito and Bradi, it is paramount to have real traditional Italian food. They research the best ingredients and the best recipes to deliver authentic Italian flavours.

The menu offers the customers a great list of distinctive options to choose. The food on the menu reflects the heart and the soul of the restaurant which delivers fresh Italian dishes.

Antipasti include Tagliere with selection of cured meats, Sicilian olives, stracciatella and focaccia, Burrata diversa with toasted sourdough, confit truss tomatoes, burrata and anchovy fillets dressed with citrus vinaigrette and pancetta pangrattato.

Pasta is served as a primi, including Amatriciana with egg spaghetti served with chilli, garlic, onion, olives, crispy pancetta, Napoletana sauce and Parmesan. Gluten-free pasta is available.
The menu continues with mains, including Costoletta di Maiale, pan seared pork cutlet with butter and thyme served on a bed of butter beans, leek and silverbeet with cauliflower puree, baby honey carrots and basil pesto.

Contorni, sides, include Giardiniera, mixed of leaf salad, cucumbers, red onions, olives, cherry tomatoes, feta and extra virgin olive oil.

Salads and bread are also gluten-free. Mains are also gluten free and vegetarian.

One side dish is an average of $26 and main is $28. Pizza is made by professional pizzaioli and hand stretched, is $23 average.

Decadent desserts await at the end of the meals, including Tiramisu made on the premises, Italian ladyfingers soaked in espresso, housemade mascarpone cheese, egg yolk, egg white and dusted with cocoa powder.

The meals are accompanied by your choice of wine, including Italian wine. Voglia also offers beer, cocktails and spirits.

Voglia prepares also scrumptious breakfast to start your day with a dish full of goodness and an espresso.
