Check out the new and exciting events at Vivid Festival 2015
Vivid Sydney is a world-renowned festival of spectacular proportions. The festival combines a mesmerising light show illuminated on the most iconic structures in the country; a phenomenal musical line-up of national and international artists; and an ideas component that features talks and seminars sure to inspire and enlighten.
There is no doubt Vivid Sydney is one of the most unique festivals in the country, if not the world. Last year the festival attracted a record 1.43 million attendees and added $41 million to the State's visitor economy. NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said, "with 60 installations, new precincts to explore, more ideas seminars and an expanded music offering, there's something new to see every night during Vivid Sydney and I encourage everyone to start planning their trip."
Sydneysiders are incredibly fortunate to have this annual celebration on our doorstep as it allows us to find new ways to experience the event each year. Here are the most unique ways to experience Vivid Sydney 2015.

For a light show as majestic as Vivid, you need to experience it from a vantage point with similar levels of novelty and excitement. Far from simply walking along the harbour like the rest of the city's tourists and residents, make sure you are one of the lucky (or should we say intelligent) few that escapes the crowds and gains new perspective by witnessing Vivid Sydney's Light show from the water or the sky.
Hop aboard a cruise to experience the true magic of the illuminated Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge ensconced within the dancing reflections of the Sydney Harbour. MV EPICURE II offers a luxurious two and a half hour Sydney Harbour cruise complete with a gourmet three course meal and wide selection of beverages. The family-friendly cruise allows you to witness the sparkling new interactive digital fireworks display, Pyrmont Pyro; marvel at the Australian-first Vivid Laser-Fountain Water Theatre at Darling Harbour; and be astonished by the cutting-edge, interactive illumination of the Sydney skyline, Paint the Town – plus unparalleled views of everything in between.
To gain a view from the top, why not also experience Vivid light from 250 metres above it all? The Sydney Eye Tower allows you to witness 360-degree views of the adorned cityscape. The Sydney rooftop bar, Sky Terrace, at the Star Casino also provides panoramic views of the harbour and city skyline.
Other great dining places from which to soak up the glittering Vivid lights include the Fort Denison Restaurant Dinner De-lights, MCA Café, the Glenmore Hotel and the Theatre Bar at the end of the Wharf.

Vivid 2015 features an incredible musical lineup, including Sufjan Stevens, Daniel Johns, TV on the Radio, The Drones, Flume, Bill Callahan and the Preatures. With the huge range of events, there is truly something for every taste and age on the bill.
For something a little bit different, be sure to check out Modulations at Carriageworks. Carriageworks Director, Lisa Havilah, said: "grounded in music but crossing into art, design and food, Modulations is designed to celebrate contemporary arts and creativity across multiple platforms." Internationally acclaimed artist, fashion icon and music superstar, Grace Jones, is headlining the event. The 2015 extended 6-day Modulations program also includes music legend Bill Drummond, the unique food and music partnership ITALO DINING AND DISCO CLUB, and the dance party trio: Kooki, Pelvis and Motorik, apparently "the dance party to end all parties."
Another event that medleys genres and art forms is the immersive cinematic experience of the David Attenborough-narrated Life Story installation at the Argyle Cut. The Spice Cellar at the Imperial Hotel in Erskineville and the 90's-inspired Rhythm of the Night at Goodgod Small Club are welcome new additions to 2015's Vivid music program that surely won't go unnoticed. For a family-friendly event a little further north, don't miss out on the projected showcase of The Nautilus and the Sea at The Concourse in Chatswood.
Vivid Ideas 2014
Vivid Ideas boasts of being the nexus between creative culture, technology and commerce. Future of Work is a highlight event being hosted at Google's waterfront headquarters exploring the evolving nature of careers and Australia's position on the world stage.
Alternatively, you could learn about startup culture and enterprise experience at the free event Quality, Velocity and Resilience. To get more involved, why not enjoy three days of talks and hands on activities at the MCA Zine Fair or hear from six leading artists discuss their quest for social change at the Carnival of the Bold? Also be sure not to miss the opportunity to learn from one of the most influential global figures in publishing and branding, Tyler Brûlè at Game-Changer in Walsh Bay.
