This year my Vivid journey began armed with an LED hula hoop on my way to Central Park. It was Vivid Sydney 2015 where I discovered that it is so easy to get involved in various ad hoc activities. I arrived at Central Park to be greeted by another hula hooper and we set up some music and started jamming.
The atmosphere was great. There were people on deck chairs watching the light show at the old brewery as well as a group of people lit up by red and green headphones at a silent disco.
The feeling of being involved in something like Vivid is amazing, especially when there are people taking photos and videos of you.
Let me say now, I am by no means a great hula hooper, but getting involved is so much fun and I would encourage anyone to do it, don't always be a spectator. If you are a photographer, go out there and photograph Vivid, if you own anything that lights up and you can do tricks with it, get out there and do it.
There will be more interesting ad hoc entertainment to come, so keep your eyes peeled.
