The illuminating
Vivid Sydney at Chatswood is on again from May 24 through to June 15. This festival of light, music and ideas never ceases to amaze and delight Sydney-siders along with visitors to our harbour city.
This year inspiration is taken from the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. With a theme of
Love, Peace and Harmony. futuristic ideas are explored. Talented artists from all over the world have collaborated to create a sensational light gallery, a myriad of sounds and ideas all reflecting the values of 1969. This creative canvas of Love, Peace and Harmony installations show how these values remain true today and in the future.
The Concourse will be transformed with interactive installations especially created for the Chatswood CBD and shopping precinct. Over 35 visual artists have created sensory walks of light displays throughout Chatswood centre and its many laneways. All areas are powered by certifiably renewable GreenPower.
Within the theme, there is something for everyone this year. Young couples will relate to the Love themed installations; family-friendly fun for young children who will find works just for them and everyone will enjoy taking selfies amongst the lights with friends and family.
Along with the many highlights like
Trumpet Flowers, a musical light garden you can interact with at Chatswood Mall, there is the light projection from Hungarian artist collective
Limelight Academy, a world-renown 3D projection mapping group. Also, experience a grand
Cascading Harp and
Listen to the World, a heart sculpture made of recycled materials.
Vivid Music showcases international acts at The Concourse including
Vince Jones, Lisa Fischer and her band
Grand Baton and, at the
And Love Will Steer The Stars concert rock will meet classical music. This concert on May 25 captures the essence of 1969, a year of revolution.
Vivid Ideas, keeping within the theme, will challenge your perceptions, excite, shock and motivate with free talks every day at 11am to 12noon at Chatswood Chase. Come along and join the debate of issues facing us all.
