If you're worried that this Sunday is going to be as boring as every other, then I have just the thing for you: The
. This Sunday, Federation Square is hosting a wonderful and colourful festival from 12pm – 6pm, for all members of the family.
The Victorian Multicultural Commission brings us all this fantastic festival with so many activities and exciting things, I hardly know where to start.
GLOBAL FOOD STALLS
There will be loads of food stalls with different delicacies from countries the world over:
Bosnia
The Caribbean
Mexico
South America
West Africa
Indonesia
& HEAPS MORE
WORLD MARKET STALLS
The countries of the world won't only be bringing to you their delectable dishes. They'll also be selling a variety of wondrous things from their respective countries:
Hats from Brazil
Clothes from India & Indonesia
Jewellery from Peru
Fair Trade Handicrafts from Columbia
Henna Tattoos from Pakistan
& LOADS MORE
ACTIVITIES & EXHIBITS
If the food and market stalls didn't excite you, I'm sure the activities will. There are several different things to busy yourself with for hours.
Kid's Activities
Origami and Tribal Jewellery-making sessions
Cultural storytelling
Face-paint
Dance and Singing sessions
Other Activities
Colourfest Film Festival
- visit the big screen at the Atrium to watch a selection of short films, featuring stories of culturally diverse Australians
- showing at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm
Art Exhibition
- also at the Atrium, you can view finalists' entries from the Cultural Diversity Weed Schools' Art Competition
Sports Zone
- test your handballing skills at the AFL footy clinic
- you will also have the chance to meet some of the stars of the AFL game
- players from the Melbourne Heart and Melbourne Victory teams will also be around to sign autographs
MUSIC & DANCE
If your fancies haven't been tickled yet, listen to this. Along with all the colour from the exhibitions and activities happening all around, there'll also be great sounds. Some of the amazing multicultural performers that you'll have the pleasure of hearing on the day, on different stages around the area, are:
