In previous years this special event has celebrated over 50 nationalities, through demonstrations of dance, art and design, food stalls and music performance. With two main stages, which will be surrounded by numerous stalls, various art installations, as well as roving performers and a market bazaar, Federation Square is going to be a celebration of colour and culture, to the delight of it's one of a kind community.

The events will begin a 12pm and the main stage will host special performances from dance troupes demonstrating traditional dances from Thailand, Hungry and New Zealand throughout the afternoon. Last year there was a 'Bodhi Tree' at Federation Square - 'Bodhi' is a is a P& #257 ;li and Sanskrit word, which translates into English as 'enlightenment' or 'awakening'. In this special meditative space visitors were encouraged to add a leaf with a message to a growing field. Also a 'Rangoli' interactive installation was being made by Amanda King and visitors to the festival were encouraged to help create the decorative patterns with chalk, flour and rice.

The events of the day are suited to the young and old and offer a special opportunity for each and everyone of us to be proud of our own culture and embrace another.

Experience the food, the culture, the arts and crafts - right here in Melbourne, of some 50 countries during the Viva Victoria festivities. It is a one of a kind festival which is sure to be very popular!
