Are you lonesome tonight? Walking on with hope in your heart? Planning on slipping on (or stepping on) some blue suede shoes? If you're looking for a place to shake, rattle and roll, you'll be well served by Viva Surfers Paradise which unfolds across 10 sun-soaked days in July.
Presented by the Hotel Grand Chancellor, and widely recognised as the Asia Pacific's premier tribute artist festival, Viva Surfers Paradise pays tribute to the world's greatest music legends, including Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, The Beatles and Johnny Cash. Two of the world's leading Elvis artists, Bill Cherry and Chris Connor, will be among those performing this year. While Viva Surfers Paradise is a free event, there is limited reserved seating for Cherry and Connor's shows available to purchase from $30.
Other include rock 'n' roll dance classes, vintage stalls, classic cars, and the ever-popular Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Competition in which the winner has the opportunity to travel to Memphis Tennessee and compete in an even bigger challenge.
If you've ever thought about renewing your wedding vows, Viva Surfers Paradise also offers the perfect platform to do so. The Group Renewal of Vows ceremony will be presided over by the Gold Coast's very own Elvis, Dean Vegas, within a marquee on Surfers Paradise beach. (Be sure to wear some shoes you won't mind getting sandy.) It's free to participate in the ceremony, but you do need to register online first.
