The inaugural Viva Mexico Film Festival 2015 kicks off in Perth on October 28! This exciting film festival celebrates the very best of contemporary Mexican cinema with screenings held in three venues: Cygnet Cinema, Northbridge Piazza and The Backlot.
The festival program showcases a selection of genres, from fast-paced action to drama and comedy. There is something for everyone!
The festival will open with a screening of the acclaimed "600 Miles", starring the British actor Tim Roth. The critically acclaimed drama is directed by Gabriel Ripstein and initially screened in the Panorama section of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival where it won the award for Best First Feature. It was also selected to represent Mexico as a contender for Best Foreign Film at the 2015 Academy Awards.
Other festival highlights include screenings of Mexico's Most Wanted, a fast paced action film about Mexico's most famous bank robber who, incredibly, was a well known masked Mariachi singer, as well as Guten Tag Ramon, a beautiful and endearing film about a young Mexican who leaves his country to find work overseas to support his family. In the face of adversity he enters into a touching friendship that transcends borders and prejudices.
