Think of the best hot chips you have ever had - were they so good you just wanted to keep eating them forever? Well, I can promise you that the hot chips at Patonga Beach are better. These chips are all hand-cut and super super tasty. They are crunchy on the outside but nice and soft on the inside and there are tones of little crunchy bits mixed in.

You can find the best hot chips ever at Patonga Beach at the very south end of the Central Coast. It is a sleepy little fishing village that is quite picturesque. The hot chips are priced quite reasonably with a medium, which feeds 1-2 people very generous serves, for $5. The chip shop also offers the usual range of takeaway battered fish to accompany your delicious chips.

It takes a little over an hour to get to Patonga from Sydney and you can either drive (take the first exit off the freeway after the dinosaur) or catch the ferry from Palm Beach. The ferry trip takes you around the headland for some of the best views of Sydney waters you will see. The ferry leaves Palm Beach daily at 11am for Broken Bay via Patonga, but on weekends and school holidays they run aditional trips. Click here for more information on the ferries.

While you are in Patonga tasting their to-die-for hot chips you should take the opportunity to see what else Patonga has to offer. Patonga has some great picnic spots, and a pretty little beach beach for swimming. There is the option to hire kayaks, and of course being a fishing village it, has plenty of areas to fish or take a boat out. You can walk on the rocks around the headland to feel the sand between your toes, wet your feet and see a bit more of the stunning scenery. For those feeling a bit more adventurous you can take a small fire trail over the headland for a 2 hour walk to see Pearl Beach.

There is also the Patonga Beach Hotel which has a bar, bistro and accommodation. For more information on Patonga Beach Hotel click here.

If you just can't get enough of Patonga Beach and the hot chips there is a camping ground at the southern end of the beach. Alternatively you can look into holiday house rentals for an awesome spot for a weekend getaway or a longer stay.

Patonga means "little Oyster," so when you are next looking for a day trip out of Sydney or a nice place for a weekend getaway, think of what a gem Patonga Beach is. With so much to do, such great hot chips and so easy to get to from Sydney, Patonga Beach is the perfect spot.

That's great. But I imagine that at Patonga beach there would be more than one retailer selling chips. The name of the business would be helpful.

Patonga beach is a hidden gem. Great for boaties, swimming and bushwalkers. The Patonga Beach Tavern has the best position on the central coast to have a meal and drink.

i'd love to know the name of the shop that sells the best chips? unless there's only 1 shop in the whole of Patonga Beach that actually sells the chips?

There is one fish and chip shop (Patonga Seafoods) and one pub (Patonga Beach Hotel). They are the only establishments in Patonga. PS great food at the fish and chip shop.
