Oh, the childlike, giddy excitement as we drive across the bridge connecting Bribie Island to the mainland! It hits me everytime we enter this unique piece of Paradise sensibly close to Brisbane, yet a million miles from care.

Eateries galore to choose from, swimming opportunities, fishing nooks and scenic walks by the sea, plus the undeniable holiday spirit wafting through the air!

We tossed our picnic basket and trusty foldaway chairs into the car and headed to Woorim Beach. Under shady trees, we escaped the city heat and savoured the sea breezes and swimming delights.

Following this relaxation, there was a museum to explore ( the appropriately named Bribie Island Seaside Museum).

Meticulously kept and informative, this will explain the interesting history of the island and fascinate you for hours. Plenty to amuse and educate the young ones as well.

A leisurely stroll by the wharves and restaurants is a fine way to complete a perfect day. Grab a scrumptious ice cream to enjoy on the way!

Bribie Island is the perfect destination for a holiday for the day (or longer) where you can leave all those cares behind!
