Stay fit while exploring
Since exploring is your theme this year and you are trying out new places you may want to check out Bargara. They certainly are a friendly bunch of people. Everyone says hello and wants to chat, making you welcome to their tiny part of Queensland.

Walks along the esplanade!

Situated on the coast, outside of Bundaberg, this seaside beauty seems to be a place for retirees and new families alike, their interests all pretty similar, fitness and living an active life.

Everyone walks the Coral Coast Walkway, seniors out for a stroll, or walking dogs, new families taking babies and tots for a walk along this lovely boardwalk. All enjoy the water's edge, with places to sit on the benches and catch the views. You can picnic or barbeque and meet the townsfolk, eager to pass on information about the area.

This walk also caters to the fitness enthusiasts amongst you. There are post markers along the way to help you determine how many steps you have taken while on your walk. Now we have all heard about 10,000 steps a day and these markers are geared to help you with your count.

Every step counts!

Billboards inform you about making healthy choices, to sugar or not to sugar. Check out the information.

There are exercise stations to stop and train. So while you are getting fit your kids can play at the same time at the playground adjacent to your workout area. This is a brilliant concept that works for all.

Easy to walk!

The walkway is suitable for everyone to enjoy and share. It is flat, easy to manoeuver, and has a couple of playgrounds including the neatest turtle playground situated along the esplanade.

The Turtle Trail, of which the Coral Coast walk is part of,takes you in two directions. You can walk south to Kelly's Beach or north for short distances, or go all the way to the lighthouse at Burnett Heads, taking roughly an hour and a half to reach.

The walkway takes you past Mon Repos, the largest accessible turtle rookery on mainland Australia. The area is watched over and protected but can be accessed by people for beach activities and to watch the amazing spectacle that becomes turtle nesting season. Rangers do guided walks and the education center is set up for your viewing and learning pleasure.

The Bargara Surf Club also sits along the walk and you can get coffee and enjoy the beach here. You can spend some time doing Yoga or Qi Gong before you head for a swim.

This whole region stretching along the coast line is full of small towns and accommodations from Port Bundaberg to Riverview. You can explore one or all of them, walking or riding it all, if you so choose.

Kacy's Beach Motel is right on the esplanade at Bargara, well situated and top notch when it comes to service. Their pool can help in your fitness regime as well.

Rich with heritage, Bundaberg is close by. Come and explore, find out all you can about this area. You could spend a few weeks here and stay fit while you do it.
