Some free music every Sunday afternoon

melbourne festival 2014

The Melbourne Festival is joining yet again with Multicultural Arts Victoria to ignite imaginations with visible music.

Since 2011 Multicultural Arts Victoria has worked with musicians from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities to nurture artistic talent. The result is the Visible Music Sessions, which present artists from Australia's emerging, Indigenous and refugee communities on a Melbourne Festival stage.

The public program of Visible Music sessions is a free program on every Sunday of the Festival. The sessions, held at Foxtel Festival Hub, will feature some of the musicians who have been mentored through the project, and some of the established musicians who have mentored them. Performers include Dani Sib, Jazmaris with Seble Girma, Birdz, Taqi Khan, The Lalibelas, Yirrmal & The Yolngu Boys, Amin Payne x Mehr Ensemble.

Multicultural Arts Victoria also introduce their ambassadors for the Festival: Abdullahi Ibrahim, Achilles Yiangoulli, Ajak Mabia Kwai, Daniel Seifu, James Henry, Lamine Sonko, Nilusha Dassenaike, Salvatore Rossano, Takako Enomoto, Victoria Chiu, and Wang Zheng Ting. Audiences are invited to connect with the ambassadors through social media during the festival or in person.
