I'm a resident of the northern suburbs of Adelaide, keen to share interesting ideas for weekend activities, especially but not exclusively, north of Gepps Cross.

Gorilla spotted in Virginia
Just 30 minutes from the Adelaide CBD is South Australia's largest Garden Centre - Virginia Home and Garden. Virginia Home and Garden is a great way to while away a few hours on the weekend. The complex houses a huge plant nursery, a licensed bistro-style cafe, and enticing gift and home wares shops.
Although the outdoor nursery is massive, the plants are organised in clearly marked categories which makes it easy to find your way around. Friendly staff are dotted about, who are both knowledgeable and helpful. There is also a large range of pots, water features and garden ornaments which are enjoyable just to have a browse through. Inside there is also endless browsing to be done through Stella's Gift Shop and shelves of interesting ornaments and artworks in the main atrium.
When you feel like having a break, park up your plant laden trolley at Doncho's Cafe, where you can have anything from a cappuccino to a steak. Doncho's is licensed and has a Breakfast Menu available 8am - 11am on the weekend (9am - 11:30 during the week). Doncho's has the same opening hours as Virginia Home and Garden.
