A great day out is a day in the country wandering around a great community market. is one of those markets you can easily visit once a month and not get tired of the goods on offer or the entertaining performers. It is held at the Recreation Reserve - a few blocks from Violet Town's town centre.







As I enjoyed the freshly cooked lemon and sugar Dutch pancakes, I shared a table with ladies from Yea who attend every month to buy fresh produce. It is a large market with nearly everything you would want in a market; coffee, clothes, craft, candles, creative stallholders and more surround the footy oval. Some stallholders offer free tastings of their produce. At 10:30 in the morning, I was tasting limoncello and soda water which was very refreshing on a hot morning.





Many of the stallholders take cash only, so make sure your wallet or purse is cashed up so you don't miss out on the item you just fall in love with. There was a mobile ATM on site the day I went. If you forget to bring your shopping bags, there are many on sale to transport your newly purchased items.





Entry is free but a gold coin donation is appreciated as it goes to a different community organisation each month. The month I attended I bought a raffle ticket to support local sporting teams (unfortunately my ticket wasn't drawn). is on the second Saturday of each month between 8.30 am - 1.00 pm. The market is at the Recreation Reserve in Tulip Street, Violet Town. The market is a smoke-free event. Dogs are not allowed, except for service dogs. Dates for 2022 are 14 May, 11 June, 9 July, 13 August, 10 September, 8 October, 12 November, and 10 December.







I was telling my brother about the market and it turns out he attended the same day and time I was there but as there were so many stalls and items to look at I completely missed him. So head up or down the Hume Highway and enjoy a morning at the and then have a look at the Violet Town Community Museum.
