I'm a 26 year old male Senior Reporter for Weekend Notes. I Graduated from A Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing and Communication) at UniSA in 2014. As well as writing for WN I have also done pieces for the Adelaide 36s and Mawson Lakes Living.
Following up from their 2016 Fringe show, The Light in the Piazza, which received a Fringe High Commendation and a nomination for Best Musical (Amateur) by the Australian Theatre Guide, Davine Interventionz Productions, present the award-winning Violet: A Musical.
Written by Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Mille, Shrek the Musical), Violet is a heart-warming story of image and self-discovery. Set in 1964, it follows the titular character Violet as she boards a Greyhound bus to Tulsa, Oklahoma in search of a TV preacher to heal a scar she has across her face.
Along the way, Violet deals with childhood memories of her father who she blames for her disfiguration. During her pilgrimage to attain beauty, she meets new friends and together they learn important lessons about growing up and the choices you make in life.
Violet is musical, a mixing pot of Country, Gospel and Blues, all pulled straight out of the American Midwest. These upbeat tunes will have you feeling good and dancing in your seat as you follow Violet on this journey of miracle healing. So come along and join this talented cast for some inspiring soul searching and leave with a skip in your step.
The show will be performed at the Star Theatres. Running on dates of the 22nd to the 25th of February and the 28th February to the 4th of March. Tickets start at $30 for Children, $33 for Concession and $36 for Full Price.
