To coincide with 'Dressed by the Best: Fashion, Glamour & Gwen Gillam' exhibition (August 2, 2012 to February 24, 2013), the Queensland Museum is hosting a Vintage Fair in the Whale Mall. This free event will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 10am until 4pm.
Gwen Gillam was a Brisbane fashion designer during the fifties and sixties, who was regarded by her generation as "the best". The Vintage Fair will highlight this period with vintage fashion, fabric, buttons, jewellery, hats, homewares, curios, collectables, corsages, and more. Brisbane's popular Suitcase Rummage will be part of the fair, with over thirty suitcase stalls selling vintage and vintage-inspired items.
Put on your prettiest frock or favourite vintage attire from the fifties, sixties, or seventies. Prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed. To complete your look, have your hair and make-up styled by the Bombshell Burlesque and Beauty Academy. Make-up costs $25 while $30 will buy you a fabulous vintage do: victory rolls, beehive, or hollywood hair. Following your glamour makeover, have a mini vintage photoshoot with Kahlia Litzow, Queensland's premier burlesque photographer. Pin-up pictures cost $10 for one digital retouched image or three images for $20.

Be entertained by the DJ spinning vintage vinyl or enjoy some live music with Brisbane's bluegrass band, The Company; performing at 1pm and 2:15pm.
