If you know your South African shops in Perth's northern suburbs, you'll undoubtedly have come across the Village Hut Cafe.

Now owned and run by experienced South African shop owner, Chrisna Venter, if you're looking for homemade South African cakes and food, add the Village Hut Café to your brunch list.

All the goods in the coffee shop are now homemade and the quality is divine.

There's still the classic South African desserts on the menu, like koeksusters, peppermint crisp tart and milk tart but they've also got more exotic ever-changing treats like Toblerone chocolate cake and a luscious caramel milk tart.

The menu also includes breakfast and lunch items, with some South African favourites like chicken a la king, bobotie pie, and classic toasted sandwiches and handmade pies.

There is a great selection of lighter meals like quiche, frittata, and muffins if you fancy something a little lighter.

So if you haven't been for a while, why not head over for brekkie, lunch, or just a coffee and cake – you won't be disappointed.

Seems a great spot for a quick snack. It's mice to see shops like this in the suburbs. I'm old enough to remember when there wasn't any. It's up to us Weekend Notes writers to promote them, as well as having a good feed.
