Home style Italian food in Melbourne's Little Italy
Nestled in Melbourne's Italian heart, the well known Lygon St, Villa Romana is a favourite with my family.
With a casual setting and a family friendly atmosphere, it suits family occasions or dinner with fiends, but is also suitable for meals of a more intimate persuasion. With views onto the busy street in front, gaze at passers by while you enjoy your meal.
The majority of the seating is on a large, primarily, undercover terrace with heating for the cooler months. There is also indoor seating and more outdoor seating on the pavement, also with heaters.
It has a wide selection of traditional wood fired pizzas and homemade pastas, along with a selection of other entrees and mains, including seafood and meats. My personal choice and probably the most simplistic of meals, is the linguine al pesto, fresh pasta with a simple yet delicious sauce. I have tried to recreate this dish many a time.
Located in a double story Victorian terrace, the upper level is led dictated to a function room. Suitable for any event, whether it be a birthday or Christmas party, anniversary or corporate function. There are a variety of food and beverage selections available, suitable for different tastes and budgets.
Whether you're looking for somewhere for your next occasion or just want a nice meal out, Villa Romana is a great choice. It is perhaps dearer than some of Lygon St's simpler eateries, but is still reasonably priced and provides quality home style food.
