Vigna Bottin prides itself on offering authentic Italian cuisine in a warm welcoming setting. The menu, wines, chef and surroundings are all coming to you from Italy with love. It is always good to be in a place where you receive a warm welcome and the staff there look happy to be there. From the moment of arrival, the team at Vigna Bottin are helpful and friendly. If you are wondering about the name this is also classically Italian, the name Vigna translates as vineyard and Bottin is their family name.

The setting for Vigna Bottin is a stone building and a large verandah which creates a Mediterranean feel. The surrounding vineyards are never far from view and stretch out towards the distant Willunga range. The entrance building is used as the venue for cellar door tastings, while restaurant tables are in the large shed area adjoining this. The shed has plenty of combustion fires and a very rustic ambience, it even includes an old almond shelling machine.

Authentic Italian Food at the Osteria
Everything about Vigna Bottin is thoroughly classic Italian. The menu is kept relatively simple with Italian classics like Italian fennel sausages in a light tomato sauce with fresh tomatoes and creamy feta with a side of crusty bread. Gnocchi Della Casa - Fresh homemade gnocchi. Ravioli Italiani - Fresh homemade pumpkin-filled ravioli, with feta, pesto and sauteed pumpkin. Saltimbocca - pan-fried veal and Risotto Mare, Italian rice with luscious seafood. All at our table enjoyed the traditional Italian hospitality and generous rustic food. The menu always uses seasonal ingredients and is designed by the inspiration of the chef.

Must have Desserts
As all items on the menu change depending on the chef, it is hard to resist when you find classic Italian desserts on the menu. The tiramisu is elegant, being not too rich but definitely heavenly. The other choice on this day was Baba (Amaretto).

Classic Italian Wine
Vigna Bottin offers wine flights that focus on their traditional-style Italian wines, with your choice of five wines from the Casa and Cantina Selection and a tasting plate. Wines include Versecco (sparkling white), Fiano, Rosato, and Sangiovese. As McLaren Vale is known for its shiraz there are some big beautiful vintage Shiraz selections on offer. Wine Flights are ten dollars and the cost of the flight is redeemable on Take-Away Bottle Purchases. Wine flights are available in the seated cellar door area.

From Italy with Love
The Italian people love their scooters and this one has pride of place at Vigna Bottin . Just remember you can look but don't touch. Buongiorno!

Vigna Bottin are open for luncheon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with bookings required. This Osteria is a very popular place, not unlike the other Willunga Italian restaurant Our Place, however, Vigna Bottin offers menu choices and their own wines. The Italian ethos is to welcome people as you would into someone's home. This is an authentic Italian experience you don't have to travel to the other side of the world for.
