[SECTION]5 Star Rooms with Stunning Views[/SECTION]

When we were out of lockdown, my husband and I did as many other Victorians did - we reveled in getting out and about.

I'm a beach baby. I grew up on the beach and was always nutmeg brown in the summer with my Greek skin. My grandfather had me on waterskis by age 7 and slalom skiing by my early teens. Memories of happy days of sunsets, warm seawater, seashell gathering (still my passion), sandcastles, fishing, shrimping, or flounder hunting with a kerosene lamp after dark. I was a Nipper and then a Lifesaver. I even trained Nippers, sailed, and swam competitively. Got a few Blue ribbons in my day. Age catches up, but my heart still yearns for the beach.

So whenever I can, I go to the beach. This has been the hardest thing for me with lockdown. I live in rolling hills above Melbourne with stunning views. But no beach within 5 K. The opening to 25 K was joy, as I could get to my nearest beach. And I got there 2 to 3 times a week to walk in the water. But when things finally opened up, I jumped to book accommodation on the Mornington Peninsula and got us as close to the beach as I could. We hadn't been to Cape Schanck for over 30 years, so it was on my bucket list.

I did research and found the most delightful boutique, Hampton's glam, chalet-style resort in Cape Schanck. I thought, "This intimate resort looks light and bright and modern and fresh". Mostly I wanted water views and quick access to the beaches.

I adore watching the change of the sky and the colour of the water, the light dancing, rain sheeting across the water, waves dancing and brilliant sunsets. It looked perfect with access to both surf side and bayside beaches of Mornington. I was so lucky to get the last booking for the weekend and I asked and prayed for an ocean view. The managers, Damien and Julie, were so wonderful and I felt they put us in the best suite in the hotel. They had no idea who I was. I did not tell them till after the visit that I was a photojournalist reviewer.

Little did I know, that at this resort, almost every room has the most stunning ocean views or restful garden aspect. And even if you prefer the garden aspect for your pampered pet, the lounge, breakfast area has the most stunning views; you can just sit all day by the fire and breathe the view. Breakfast is included in your room cost. This 'Kick Start" breakfast includes fresh fruit, yogurts, quiches, homemade smoothies and the rest.

You can see the sea on both sides of the Mornington Peninsula, back and front. There is nothing like it anywhere else on the peninsula that I know. It is beyond breathtaking. See here for booking and room details. Each are a delight and caters for all needs.

[SECTION]Pet-Friendly Resort for Furry Friends[/SECTION]

A bonus is it is pet friendly with its own dog play areas. I love how they advertise this, "Fur Babies stay FREE". Then they supply pet pampering eating treats made of natural local ingredients, such as peanut butter and honey. Yum! You would be tempted to taste yourself. And your besties do not have to stay in your room, they are just part of the resort family and allowed everywhere. There are a few non pet rooms, so let them know you are bringing your four-legged friends when booking.

How rare is it to find luxury 5 start accommodation that allows and welcomes pets with open arms and provides special play areas!

This lovely resort is tucked into the back of the grounds of the Cape Schanck RACV. As we turned into the Cape Schanck resort and drove up the hill to the back of the resort, we were not sure what to expect. We arrived at this Hampton's style multi-level structure.

I do not think my photography has done it justice. It nestles into the hill and soars over the views. It is breathtaking. And you can stroll down to the golf course as well. And there are extra facilities at RACV you take advantage of such as a full restaurant.

When we arrived our hosts, Julie and Damien, greeted us more like family than guests, with champagne on arrival. When they showed us to our room, we were stunned by the priceless views and elegance of the room. I felt it was worth double what it cost and what other resorts would charge.

We immediately took advantage of the warm winter sun on our roomy balcony and sipped champagne and enjoyed nibbles. You have access to a fridge and sink so you can cater for yourself for simple treats.

For dinner, we sat around the fire with other couples and Julie, our host, regaled us with stories about the history of the resort and the lovely functions they had hosted over the years.

[SECTION] Wedding or Conference or Golf Getaway[/SECTION]

Apparently, the hotel was originally built with a golf course and was owned by a group of passionate golfers.

Now, modernised, it is a much-in-demand wedding venue. The pictures of prior weddings were scrumptious. Can you imagine getting married on that spacious balcony with those spectacular views? We could. If this resort had existed when we got married, we would have been first in. And they have just added another "Ceremonial Area" in the garden for those fairy light evening weddings.

On the first night, we were happy to just be in our room and play a bit of pool in the main lounge. Julie, the ultimate host, then lovingly whipped up a proper Italian pizza and a bottle of bubbly and we settled down for a lovely gossipy evening indeed. No need to go anywhere surrounded by the stunning sunset and the stars a twinkling. That far from the city lights, you can see billions. Beyond romantic and restful.

I have a dear friend, Lauren Bell, who is a life coach and she had an upcoming conference event she was planning. And I sent her the link to Damien and Julie's hotel as soon as I got home. She said it would be perfect and was planning a trip down with her partner. Back in lockdown, the event will Zoom online instead. But you can still enjoy the growth of mind and spirit with trained professional coaches. Follow the link below for further details on Lauren and bookings. Read the Happy Nurse article and Happy Nurse Zoom workshop .

The tranquillity here would suit wellness conferences and clients who want a restful retreat to take time to themselves, nurture their spirit and heal. The top-notch conference facilities would work for any business to create the perfect meet and greet. And of course, with the RACV resort right next door, overflow can fit there. Most won't be happy they have to go down the hill. Yes RACV is shiny glass, modern and glam, but VIEWS is serene.

At the time, we were there they were looking for new cleaning staff who can opt for live in quarters. At how many resorts can you work and live in 5-star glam? If I were looking for work, this is the place I would send my CV first.

[SECTION]Other Things to do in the Area[/SECTION]

And it is only 10 minutes or so to the Rye, Sorrento beach hot spots. We divided our time between there and a lovely stroll on the back beaches. At Sorrento, we found a delightful restaurant right on the water with exquisite cuisine. That will be another story, so subscribe so you can read up in the near future.

It is an easy drive from VIEWS to absolutely stunning beaches where you can watch the surfers, swim, walk the beach, beach comb or hike down to a private beach like Fingal Beach.

Gunnamatta is a quick drive up the beach and another stunning beach walk.

Take your off-road bikes and get out and about.

Another short drive has you at the wonderful boardwalk down to the rock pools or you can walk up to the Cape Schanck lighthouse. Again, with stunning views from the cliff tops.

This is all just a few minutes drive from the VIEWS. On the way to and from VIEWS, we were able to stop at the beekeeper and get natural tea tree/manuka honey. Eureka, I bought several tubs for the kids and us.

We will be going back and I will be dragging friends and family; I think my next birthday will be the perfect time!
