Australia is a beautiful country with many places to explore in your own backyard.
Honouring and commemorating our Vietnam Veterans
The City of Salisbury will hold a ceremony to commemorate Vietnam Veterans' Day on 18th August 2022, the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. Vietnam Veterans' Day commemorates the Australian Service men and women deployed during the Vietnam War. It is also a time to reflect on their courage, remember those who have died and provide support for the veterans who are still with us.
Stone sculpture with names of those killed in the war
This special ceremony will be held at the Montague Farm Estate, Henderson Square, Pooraka, from 11.00am to 12.00pm. The event will also be live-streamed and made available on the City of Salisbury YouTube Channel. For more information, visit the City of Salisbury website.
The Montague Farm Estate in Pooraka is a very special place dedicated those who served in the Vietnam War. The streets in the Estate are named in honour of those from South Australia who were killed in action during the Vietnam War between 1962 and 1973. Of the 521 Australian servicemen killed in the war, 59 of them were from South Australia. Their names are also engraved on a stone sculpture in Henderson Square.
