On Sunday 14 August 2016 (2pm arrival for 2.30pm start), there'll be a panel discussion at the Shrine of Remembrance (Birdwood Avenue, Melbourne), between Jean McAuslan, Director Exhibitions and Collections, who'll be joined by Vietnam vets Paul Penno, Nicholas LeRay-Meyer and Jan McCarthy.

Entry is by donation, as the Shrine relies on your generous support and contributions to aid great events like these and its upkeep.

Honoured to have our Vietnam veterans on the panel, they'll cover topics such as the roles played by nurses and medical staff, the experiences of National Servicemen, the RAAF and their own personal reflections on the war and the experiences they endured during it.

Head to the Auditorium for this discussion and you are encouraged to arrive early to take a look at the Shrine's Vietnam exhibitions as part of your visit.

Behind the Wire - Images and stories of Vietnam veterans, is open to visitors at the Shrine Visitor Centre from 10am to 5pm (last entry 4.30pm) from 13 Aug to 23 Oct 2016.
1966 - The year that changed the world, open daily 10am to 5pm from 4 Apr 2016 to 2 Jul 2017.
A commemoration ceremony is being held on the day (18 Aug 2016) at 10.45am with other key timings you may like to attend. Check the website for details.

These exhibitions and public programs complement the commemorative events of Vietnam Veterans Day on 18 August, which marks the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.
