Regional galleries are renowned for connecting a community with its local artists and, in doing so, affording art-lovers the most intimate glimpse of the creative process.

And at Vie De Pacifique (Pacific Life) , the Caboolture Regional Art Gallery's summer exhibition, there will be plenty of opportunities to get up close and personal with curators and artists, thanks to outstanding workshop programs for both adults and children.

Artist talks and demonstrations will explore monoprinting, lino printing, basket weaving and jewellery making. Vie De Pacifique curator and President of Impress Printmakers Studio in Brisbane, Dr Jennifer Sanzaro-Nishimura, will also discuss her experiences in Vanuatu and her role in bringing together 51 printmakers from seven different countries in and around the Pacific Ocean.

The exhibition is timed to coincide with the 7th Asia Pacific Triennial and the 150 year commemoration of South Sea Islanders in Queensland.

Sanzaro-Nishimura says Vie De Pacifique provided participating artists with a platform to express their cultural identity, highlight their concerns for the region and explore their relationship with the Pacific Ocean. 'Artists have also taken into consideration the effects of colonisation, discardment of human and industrial material and other environmental or political concerns that affect these waters,' she said.

Artists from Chile, Hawaii, Japan, New Zealand, the Philippines, Vanuatu and Australia are all represented. Vie De Pacifique is a touring exhibition which will also be shown in each of these countries in 2014.
