As Victoria is home to people of different cultural backgrounds, multiculturism is a part of our identity as a country and our daily life. Today, almost fifty percent of Victorians were either born overseas or have at least one parent who was born overseas making our diverse communities prosperous, different and great. And these differences don't divide us, instead, it brings us together. To help celebrate our united front, Cultural Diversity Week has a lot planned, including Victoria's Multicultural Festival held at Federation Square on Saturday the 24th of March 2018 from 12pm (followed by Culture-waves).
The festival promises to be a day full of incredible food, music, dance from around the world, art, design and activities for all age groups.
With many food vendors on show, makes sure you grab a bite to eat and taste test the range of deliciously diverse food on offer at the Culture Bites on River Terrace. Then maybe settle down at the main stage and be entertained by the many multicultural showcases and sounds from different cultures and groups. Alternatively, chill out and be amazed by the different customs of our diverse nation as you sip sumptuous tannins in the Global Garden or perhaps explore the market stall goods.
The festival is a family-friendly event with a Kids Zone full of fun activities to entertain the kiddies, so make sure to bring your friends and the entire family to join in to help celebrate the cultural diversity that makes us proud to live here.
